When things feel uncertain & hard to understand, we can think together about how to respond with care.
For family members & caregivers
If you are a parent or a loved one of someone struggling with complex inner experiences and psychosis or schizophrenia, it might feel heavy and confusing. You may hold a deep desire to help, but not know how. It’s common to feel unsure about how to talk with your loved one, how to set limits, or how to stay steady when things feel unpredictable. You may be trying to understand what’s happening, hoping to encourage treatment, or simply wanting conversations to feel less tense and more connected. Support for family members and friends whose loved one is suffering can be essential in their recovery process.
This consultation space is for you. Here, you can bring your questions, your worries, and the parts that feel hard to name. Together, we can explore how to communicate with more empathy and perspective, how to join your loved one’s experience without losing your own, and how to move toward what’s needed — whether that’s treatment, clearer boundaries, or a more grounded way of relating.
You don’t have to navigate this alone. We can sort through what’s unfolding with clarity and care, and help you feel more confident and connected as you support someone you love through complex inner experiences or psychosis.Important: Consultation is not a substitute for mental health treatment, diagnosis, or clinical care. It does not create a therapist–client relationship. The guidance offered here is educational and supportive in nature, and should not be used in place of professional evaluation or treatment. Please seek immediate professional help if you or someone you support is in crisis or unable to maintain safety. The information discussed is in consultation is meant to complement, not substitute for, professional care. Please consult a qualified mental health professional before making decisions about treatment for yourself or others. For professionals
Working with individuals who experience psychosis or other complex inner experiences can raise questions that are difficult to think through alone. You may be navigating diagnostic uncertainty, puzzling communication patterns, treatment hesitancy, relational strain, or moments where reality feels unclear for the person you’re supporting. Consultation offers a grounded space to explore these clinical, relational, and systemic layers with steadiness.
My work is rooted in MERIT, a recovery‑oriented approach for psychosis that centers meaning, connection, and collaborative exploration. I am MERIT-certified and trained directly by the founder, Dr. Paul Lysaker. This perspective supports clinicians in joining a person’s experience and understanding the nuances of psychosis‑related distress in a way that honors the person’s inner experiences.
This space is designed for clinicians who want to deepen their perspective, refine their therapeutic stance, or think through challenging situations with more clarity. We can explore diagnostic questions, communication patterns, caregiver involvement, treatment engagement, and the relational dynamics that often accompany complex inner experiences.
My approach is collaborative, curious, and rooted in respect for the complexity of this work. Consultation can help you strengthen your clinical thinking, feel more grounded in your decisions, and approach difficult moments with more confidence and clarity.
Please note: Consultation is not therapy, supervision, or clinical treatment, and it does not establish a therapeutic relationship. It is an educational and reflective service intended to support your professional judgment, not replace it.Let’s get started.
